CALVUS (Cornelius Licinius), a celebrated Roman orator, was the friend of Catullus; and flourished 64 B. C. Catullus, Ovid, and Horace, speak of him.
CALX properly signifies lime, but is also used by chemists and physicians for a fine powder remaining after the calcination or corrosion of metals and other mineral substances.
