DACTYLIS, COCK'S-FOOT GRASS; a genus of the digynia order, belonging to the triandria class of plants. There are two species, the cynofuroides or smooth cock's-foot grass, and the glomeratus or rough cock's-foot grass. Both are natives of Britain: the first grows in marshy places, and the latter is common in meadows and pasture-grounds. This last is eat by horses, sheep, and goats; but refused by cows.
