INNOCENT'S DAY, a festival of the Christian church, observed on December 28th, in memory of
the massacre of the innocent children by the command of Herod king of Judæa. See Jesus Christ; and Jaws, no 24. par. alt. The Greek church in their kalendar, and the Abyssinians of Ethiopia in their offices, commemorate 14,000 infants on this occasion.
