GREENOCK, a sea-port town of Scotland, and one of the ports of the city of Glasgow. It is situated 22 miles from that city; and was formerly called the Bay of St. Laurence. The Frith of Clyde here expands into a fine basin four miles wide, and is landlocked on all sides.
