NEW HAMPSHIRE, a province of North America, in New England. It is bounded on the north by Nova Scotia, on the east by the Ocean, on the south by Massachusetts bay, and on the west by New-York. Before the commencement of the American war, it was ruled by a governor and council appointed by the king, and a house of representatives. As it is a very proper country for furnishing naval stores, great part of its timber was appointed for masts and yards to the royal navy.
