KIRCHMAN (John), an eminent German divine, was born at Lubec, in 1575. He studied in several places of Germany; in 1602 was made professor of poetry at Rosstock, and in 1613 rector of the university at Lubec. He exercised this last employment with an extraordinary application, during the rest of his life; and died in 1643. He wrote several works; the most esteemed of which are, 1. De sanctorum Romanorum. 2. De annulis liber singularis.
