LABORATORY, in military affairs, signifies that place where all sorts of fire-works are prepared, both for actual service and for pleasure, viz. quick-matches, fuzes, portfires, grape-shot, case-shot, carasses, hand-grenades, cartridges, shells filled and fuses fixed, wads, &c. &c.
