LESTOFF, or LEOSTOFF, a town of Suffolk, in England, seated on the sea-shore, is concerned in the fisheries of the North-sea, cod, herrings, mackerels, and sprats; has a church, and a dissenting meeting-house; and for its security, six 18-pounders, which they can move as occasion requires; but it has no battery. The town consists of 500 houses; but the streets, though tolerably paved, are narrow. The coast is there very dangerous for strangers. E. Long. 1. 45. N. Lat. 52. 37.
