LIMERICK, a county of Ireland in the province of Munster, is bounded on the east by Tipperary, on the west by Kerry, on the north by the river Shannon, and on the south by Cork. It is 48 miles in length, and 27 in breadth; being a fertile country and well inhabited, but has few good towns: the west parts are mountainous, and the rest plain; and it is divided into nine baronies.
