NONNIUS, or NONIUS (Lewis), a learned phy-
sician of Antwerp in the 17th century, wrote several
works which are esteemed; the principal of which
are, 1. An excellent treatise intitled Icthyophagia, five
de Piscium usu
. 2. Hispania; which is of great use
in understanding the ancient geography of Spain.
3. A commentary on the medals of Greece, and those
of Julius Cæsar, Augustus, and Tiberius, in folio:
it contains Goltzius's two works on the same subject.
4. A commentary on Goltzius's account of Greece,
the islands, &c. 5. Poems, &c.
