OCTANDRIA (ὄκτος, "eight," and ἄνδρ, a "man, or husband,") the eighth class in Linnæus sexual system; consisting of plants with hermaphrodite flowers, which are furnished with eight stamens, or male organs of generation. See BOTANY, p. 1292.
