OPIS (Henry), a learned Lutheran divine, born at Altenburg in Misnia in 1642. He was professor of theology and of the oriental languages at Kiel, where he acquired great reputation by a variety of excellent works concerning oriental literature and Hebrew antiquities. He died in 1712.
