ORSI (John Joseph), an ingenious philologist and poet, was born at Bologna in the year 1652; and studied polite literature, philosophy, the civil law, and mathematics. His house was a kind of academy, where many persons of literature regularly assembled. He wrote many ingenious sonnets, pastorals, and other works in Italian, and died in 1733.
