SANCHONIATHON, a Phœnician historiographer, contemporary with Gideon the Israelitish judge, who wrote nine books of the ancient theology and history of Phœnicia; we have some fragments of it in Porphyry's Abstinentia, and in Eusebius. Mr Doddwell thinks it all counterfeited.
