VALSALVA (Anthony Maria), an eminent phy-
sician and anatomist, was born at Immola in 1666, and
was the disciple of Malpighi. He taught anatomy at
Bologna with uncommon applause, and died in 1723.
He wrote an excellent treatise on the Ear, and other
works in Latin, printed at Venice, in 4to.
