WALKING. Celsus says that walking, reading moderately loud, fencing, and playing with the ball, all strengthen a weak stomach. Walking, he says, is best if it is up and down hill, except in cases of great weakness; because ascending and descending exercises the whole body more than the plain does. If the viscera are weak, riding is to be preferred to walking. Walking preserves, and riding recovers health the best.
