WEXFORD, or WEISFORD, a county of Ireland, in the province of Munster, bounded by Wicklow on the north, St George's channel on the south and southwest, and part of Catherlogh and Kilkenny on the west. Its greatest length is about 47 miles, breadth about 27, and contains eight baronies. The air is good, but the soil various. In some places it is coarse and poor, in others fruitful both in corn and grass. The county sends 18 members to parliament; namely, two for the county, and two for each of the boroughs of Wexford, New-Ross, Enniscorthy, Feathard, Newborough, Bannow, Clonmel, Taghman.
