WILLIAM, archbishop of TYRE, was a learned prelate, who in the reign of Henry II. was sent to implore all the powers of Europe to aid the Holy Land by a new crusade. He has left A History of the Holy Wars, from their commencement to the year 1183, which in matter and style is far superior to any other of that or many preceding ages.
