WOLAW, a town in Germany, in Silesia, and capital of a duchy of the same name. It is surrounded with strong walls and a morass, and one part of the houses are built with stone. The castle is also encompassed with deep ditches, and the greatest part of the inhabitants are employed in a woollen manufactory. In 1709 a Protestant church was allowed to be built here.
