YOLK, the yellow part in the middle of an egg. See EGG. The yolk is endued with an anodyne, maturing, digesting, and relaxing virtue. Hence it is very often an ingredient in clysters, and mixed with a little salt, is commonly applied, in a walnut shell, to the navels of infants, in order to loosen the belly.
