SISYMBRIUM, WATER-CRESS; a genus of the siliquosa order, belonging to the tetradymania class of plants. There are 25 species; the most remarkable is the nasturtium, or common water-cress. This grows naturally in rivulets and clear standing waters in this country. The leaves are a strong antiscorbutic, and the expressed juice contains all their virtues. It is an ingredient in the succiscorbutici of the shops, and may be taken in the dose of one or two ounces.
