SNORING, in medicine, otherwise called rhinocor or stertor, is a sound like that of the cerchion, but greater and more manifest. A stertor is that sound which is supposed to be made betwixt the palate and nostrils, by persons asleep; cerchion, or cerebrion, is that bubbling noise which is made in respiration, from the larynx, or the aspera arteria. These affections are owing to a weakness of nature.
