ASIONGABER, ESIONGEBER, or EZIONGEBER, a town of Arabia Petraea, on the bay of Elath, a part of the Arabian Gulf; the dock or station for the ships of Solomon and Jehosaphat; an ancient town, mentioned also by Moses. It was afterwards called Berenice, (Josephus).
