ASTA Regia, a town of Bætica, (Pliny); situated at that mouth of the Bætis which was choked up with mud, to the north of Cadiz; 16 miles distant from the port of Cadiz, (Antonine). Its ruins show its former greatness. Its name is Phœnician, denoting a frith or arm of the sea, on which it stood. It is said to be the same with XERA; which see.
