BOTTOMY. A cross bottomy, in heraldry, terminates at each end in three buds, knots, or buttons, re-
sembling, in some measure, the three-leaved grass; on which account Segoing, in his Treſor Heraldique, terms it croix treſſee. It is the badge of the order of St Maurice. See HERALDRY Plates.
