BRIGANTINUS LACUS, (anc. geog.), a lake of Rhætia, or Vindelicia which Tacitus includes in Rhætia. Ammian calls the lake Brigantia. It took its name either from the Brigantii, the people inhabiting on it, or from the adjoining town. Now the lake of Constance, or Bodensee.
