CHAMA, in zoology, a genus of shell-fish belong-
ing to the order of vermes testaceæ. The shell is thick,
and has two valves; it is an animal of the oyster kind.
Linnaeus enumerates 14 species, principally distinguish-
ed by the figure of their shells.
