CHEVIOT (or TIVIOT) HILLS, run from north to south through Cumberland; and were formerly the
borders or boundaries between England and Scotland, Chevisance where many a bloody battle has been fought between the two nations; one of which is recorded in the ballad of Chevisance. These hills are the first land discovered by sailors in coming from the east into Scotland.
