CALOPHYLLUM, in botany: A genus of the monogynous order belonging to the polyandria class of plants: and in the natural method classed under those called doubtful by Linnaeus. The corolla is tetrapetalous; the calyx tetraphyllous and coloured; the fruit a globose plum. There are two species, both natives of India.
