CAPRARIA, in botany: A genus of the angiospermia order, belonging to the didynamia class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 40th order, Perfonate. The calyx is quinquepartite; the corolla campanulated, quinquefid, with acute segments; the capsule bivalved, bilocular, and polypermous. There is but one species, the biflora, which is a native of the warm parts of America. Being a troublesome weed, and without beauty, it is never cultivated, except in botanic gardens for the sake of variety.
