CADES, or KADSH, (anc. geog.) a town in the Wilderness of Zin, in Arabia Petraea; the first encampment of the Israelites, after their departure from Eziongeber; and from which the Wilderness of Zin was called Cades; the burial-place of Miriam, with the rock and water of Meribah in it. Another Cades, a town of the tribe of Judah, Joshua xv. 23. Cadesbarnea, called also Cades.
