CONTROLLER of the Household, the second officer under the lord steward. The name of his office comes from the French word controrouler. His office is to control the accounts and reckonings of the Green Cloth, of which board he is always a member. He carries a white staff, and is always one of the privy-council. He has L. 107:17:6 a-year wages, and L. 1092:2:6 board-wages.
