COTULA, MAY-WEED: A genus of the polygamia superflua order, belonging to the syngencia class of plants. The receptacle is almost naked; the papus marginated; the florets of the disc quadrifid; of the radius frequently none. There are six species, all of them herbaceous annuals, rising six or eight inches high, and adorned with yellow flowers. There are none of them natives of this country, and most of them require artificial heat.
