DIACOUSTICS, called also DIAPHONICS, the consideration of the properties of refracted sound, as it passes through different mediums: (See ACOUSTICS.) The word is formed from the Greek di per, "thro," which intimates a passage; and acous "I hear," q. d. the consideration of the passage of the sounds we hear. See SOUND.
