White CINNAMON, called also Winter's bark, is the bark of a tree frequent in the isle of St Domingo, Guadalupe, &c. of a sharp biting taste like pepper. Some use it instead of nutmeg; and in medicine it is esteemed a stomachic and antiscorbutic. See CANNELLA.
