COELIMONTANA PORTA (Pliny), one of the gates of Rome, situated at the foot of mount Cœlius; and hence its name: thought to be the ancient Alaricus by some; but this others doubt. By this gate Alaric with his Goths is said to have entered and plundered Rome.
