COLLAERT (Hans or John), son to the foregoing, was also an excellent artist. He drew and engraved exactly in the style of his father; and was in every respect equal to him in merit. He must have been very old when he died; for his prints are dated from 1555 to 1622. He assisted his father in all his great works, and engraved besides a prodigious number of plates of various subjects. One of his best prints is Mosta striking the rock, a large print, lengthwise, from Lambert Lombard. A great number of small figures are introduced into this print; and they are admirably well executed: the heads are fine, and the drawing very correct.
