COLUMNEA, in botany: A genus of the angiospermia order, belonging to the didynamia class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 40th order, Perfonate. The calyx is quinquepartite; the upper lip of the corolla arched and entire; gibbous above the base; the antheræ convex; the capsule bilocular. There is but one species, a native of Martinico, of which we have no particular description.
