ELLISIA, in botany: A genus of the monogynia order, belonging to the pentandria class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 28th order, Lurida. The corolla is monopetalous and funnel-shaped; the berry carnos and bilocular; there are two seeds muricated or set with small raised points, the one higher than the other.
