GNETUM, in botany; a genus of the adelphia order, belonging to the monoceria class of plants. The antherium of the male is a single scale; there is no corolla, and but one filament with a pair of anthers. The calyx of the female is of the same form; there is no corolla; the style with the stigma is trifid; the fruit a monospermous plum.
