HIPPIA, in botany; a genus of the polygamia necessaria order, belonging to the syngenesia class of plants. The receptacle is naked; there is no pappus; the seeds are naked, with very broad margins; the calyx is hemispherical, and subimbricated; the radius consists of ten corollules, obscure, and rather cleft into three.
