GRENOBLE, a large, populous, and ancient town of Dauphiny in France, with a bishop's see. It contains a great number of handsome structures, particularly the churches and convents. The leather and gloves that are made here are highly esteemed. It is seated on the river Isere, over which there are two bridges to pass into that part called Perriere, a large street on the other side of the river. E. Long. 5. 49. N. Lat. 45. 12.
