MASTER. entrusted with all the lands and revenues appropriated for the king's breed of horses, the expences of the stable, and of the coaches, litters, &c. He alone has the privilege of making use of any of the king's horses, pages, footmen, &c.; and at any solemn cavalcade he rides next the king, and leads a horse of state. His salary is L. 1276 : 13 : 4 per annum. There is also a master of the horse in the establishment of her majesty's household, with a salary of 800l. a-year.
