MADIAN, (anc. geog.) a town of Arabia Petraea, near the Arnan; so called from one of the sons of Abraham by Keturah, in ruins in Jerome's time. Jerome mentions another MADIAN, or MIDIAN, beyond Arabia, in the desert, to the south of the Red Sea: and hence Madianites, and Madianitai, the people; and Madianza Regio, the country.
