METULUM (anc. geog.), a considerable city of Liburnia, at the siege of which Octavius Cæsar was wounded. Said to be the metropolis, and situated on two eminences, intersected by a valley (Appian.) Now generally thought to be Melting in Carniola. E. Long. 16. N. Lat. 46. 5.
