AMARYNTHUS (anc. geog.), a hamlet of Eretria, in the island of Eubœa, about seven stadia distant from its walls. Here Diana was worshipped by an
annual solemnity, at which those of Carytus assisted; hence the title of the goddess was Amarynthis, and Amarysia.
