MUTUNUS, or MUTINUS (fab. hilt.), a deity among the Romans, much the same as the Priapus of the Greeks. The Roman matrons, and particularly newly married women, disgraced themselves by the obscene ceremonies which custom obliged them to observe before the statue of this impure deity.
