PAREIRA TRAVA, in the materia medica, a kind of oblong and large root brought from the Brasils.—It is certainly a diuretic of no mean character, and has done great service in nephritic cases. In pleuritis and quinsies, it has been attended with more success than almost any medicine we know of singly.
