NITRARIA, in botany: A genus of the monogynia order, belonging to the dodecandria class of plants; and in the natural method ranking with those of which the order is doubtful. The corolla is pentapetalous, with the petals arched at the top; the calyx quinquefid; the stamens 15; the fruit a monospermous plum.
