OPHIOXYLON, in botany: A genus of the monocotyl order, belonging to the polygamia class of plants; and in the natural method ranking with those of which the order is doubtful. The hermaphrodite calyx is quinquefid; the corolla quinquefid and funnel shaped; with a cylindrical nectarium within its mouth.
